This accessibility statement applies to the drones and model aircraft registration website.

This website is run by the Civil Aviation Authority. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website.

Non compliance with the accessibility regulations

The session timeout is currently set at 20 minutes idle time. If you allow a session to expire, you will need to start again from the beginning. This does not meet WCAG 2.1 Success Criterion 2.2.1: Timing Adjustable.

Some users with low vision may find it difficult to see when links, buttons or input elements have keyboard focus. This does not meet WCAG 2.1 Success Criterion 1.4.11: Non-text Contrast.

We plan to improve the contrast of the focus indicator by September 2024.

How we tested the accessibility of this website

This statement was prepared on 13 September 2019. It was last reviewed on 23 August 2021.

This website was last tested on 19 July 2019. The test was carried out by Test Partners Ltd.

The test checked for compliance with the AA standard of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 (opens in a new tab).

The test included:

• a selection of pages from website
• a selection of the internal administration portal

There was not enough resource to test every page on the website. However, most of the pages are based on templates and are sufficiently similar that only a subset needed to be tested.

The selection was designed so that we would test:

• site-wide template pages
• unique pages, such as the home page
• informational graphics
• forms
• data tables

We also tested the same pages for usability with two screen reader software programmes, a screen magnification software programme, and a voice recognition software programme.
